Cosmological ??-corrections from the functional renormalization group

چکیده

A bstract We employ the techniques of Functional Renormalization Group in string theory, order to derive an effective mini-superspace action for cosmological backgrounds all orders scale ?? . To this end, T-duality plays a crucial role, classifying perturbative curvature corrections terms single function Hubble parameter. The resulting renormalization group equations admit exact, albeit non-analytic, solution any spacetime dimension D , which is however incompatible with Einstein gravity at low energies. Within E -expansion about = 2, we also find analytic exhibits non-Gaussian ultraviolet fixed point positive Newton coupling, as well acceptable low-energy limit. Yet, within polynomial truncations full theory space, no evidence analog 4. Finally, comment on potential implications our findings.

Ising exponents from the functional renormalization group

We study the 3d Ising universality class using the functional renormalization group. With the help of background fields and a derivative expansion up to fourth order we compute the leading index, the subleading symmetric and antisymmetric corrections to scaling, the anomalous dimension, the scaling solution, and the eigenperturbations at criticality. We also study the cross correlations of scal...

Cosmological Models and Renormalization Group Flow

We study cosmological solutions of Einstein gravity with a positive cosmological constant and perfect fluid matter in diverse dimensions. These include big-bang models that re-collaspse, big-bang models that approach de Sitter acceleration at late times, and bounce models that are both past and future asymptotically de Sitter. The re-collapsing and the bounce geometries are all tall in the sens...

Renormalization Group Approach to Generalized Cosmological models

It is widely accepted that Einstein’s general theory of relativity is an effective four-dimensional theory at lower energies and that it needs modifications at high energies. In the cosmological context, this break down of the theory results in a modification of the Friedmann equation with important consequences in the dynamical evolution at early times (see for example, [1, 2]). There has been...

Cosmological Constant Problems and Renormalization Group

The Cosmological Constant Problem emerges when Quantum Field Theory is applied to the gravitational theory, due to the enormous magnitude of the induced energy of the vacuum. The unique known solution of this problem involves an extremely precise fine-tuning of the vacuum counterpart. We review a few of the existing approaches to this problem based on the account of the quantum (loop) effects a...

Cluster Functional Renormalization Group

Functional renormalization group (FRG) has become a diverse and powerful tool to derive effective low-energy scattering vertices of interacting many-body systems. Starting from a non-interacting expansion point of the action, the flow of the RG parameter Λ allows to trace the evolution of the effective one-particle and two-particle vertices towards low energies by taking into account the vertex...
